oh the weather outside is frightful, let it snow let it snow let it snow

We got up on saturday morning to find it lightly snowing in the city!! It snowed off and on all weekend varying in intensity. Saturday night and sunday morning there was quite a thick blanket of snow over everything, but by sunday afternoon the snow had started mixing with rain so it all became a sludgy mess. Today you wouldn't have thought anything had happened its been raining today (big surprise) but its alot warmer we actually made in into double figures, we were lucky to get to 1 degree over the weekend. Apparently it doesn't usually get that cold here and snowing in the city is rare.

On sunday we had our first driving in the snow adventure. As scott was off to Seattle today he wanted to go to point roberts border crossing and re do our visa waivers as our last ones had run out. When you cross the border to the states as a foreigner you have to pay $6 and have your fingerprints done and a photo taken for there records they put a little green piece of paper in your passport and for the next 3 months its easier to cross the border. Ours had just expired and Scott didn't want to be mucking around at the major border at night, so we told them we were going into point roberts to buy nz wine from the supermarket there as they have a better selection. We didn't realise you are meant to pay duties bring alcohol over the border but the canadian border guard was really nice and let us off.

Because we live in quite a high traffic area both cars and pedestrian the snow was packed down a little in our area. Once we got out in suburbia it was a different story, there were some side streets that didn't look like they had been driven down they looked like postcards, it was absolutely gorgeous. The snow just made everything look so beautiful and really christmasy

Catch you guys later.

love Monique and Scott

Oh My God!

Haven't been on the computer for a few days and just thought I'd check your blog and what excitement, if you can call it that! Are you over the shock yet? How are you coping? Have the police had any luck in catching the robber yet? Going to say that nothing like that happens here, but of course it does, but banks not furniture stores!!! Have they promoted you to manager yet?

What gorgeous photos of you both in the snow! Beautiful isn't it, and I think it makes everywhere look so peaceful.

Not a lot happening here, except hot and sunny. The grass has dried off and is now golden, contrasting beautifully with the brilliant clear blue skies, and fresh green leaves.

Have had a huge clean out of cupboards - half to the dump, and half to the Salvation Army. Feels really good as have been wanting to do that for a long time. Hope to get in to see your Mum, Monique, in the shop shortly.

Les Ballets Grandiva's was absolutely hilarious, very clever, and good to see a full theatre. Haven't laughed so much in ages. Really graceful strong dancing and so light on their feet. In the programme the dancers had stage names such as: Yetta Nadalyfta, Nina Minimaximova, Tamara Verde, Imelda Hardtos, Eva Lynn Hard, Fifi Sheetzuva, Pearl Lee Gates, Ginger Snapps, Sue Nami, Natalia Macabre, Dolly Dinkel, Carla Grouchi, Linda Hindenberg, Heather Sowatt, Tatania De Blockova.

Good to see your Nan again, she was in really good form, and we all had coffee afterwards.

Better go and think about an evening meal.

Take care,
Lots of love,
Lesley, Peter, & Penny XXX

Hmmm, with that picture of snow, maybe I should re-think my plan of spending a year or two in Canada...

Cold and wet doesn't sound fun. Scott, I think you should come to Hong Kong, 17-20 degrees here, and you could reminisce about one of your old cars - every taxi here is a Toyota Crown!

Wondering how the wek in Seattle went. And how you your week went Monique on your own. No more adventures at the furniture shop I hope.Everyone is envious of your planned Xmas adventure - it is so hot and humid here at the moment we would all like a bit of snow - for a short time only though!!Wonder how the birthday boy to be is coping with the milestone ahead - another decade to notch on the belt Scott. The weather here is a bit like it was 30 years ago!!not too comfortable - and then Xmas day was cold. Keep safe and lotsa love.
